$2,000 sign-on bonus for a non-Certified Police Officer

$5,000 sign-on bonus for a Certified Police Officer

General Nature of Work:

Patrols specific beat on foot and in the patrol car;  Checks doors, windows, and premises of buildings; Transports prisoners to jail or Police Department; Attends court as arresting officer; Investigates suspicious conditions and complaints to make arrests of violators; Directs traffic; Monitors traffic and issues citations for violations; Performs road checks for routine license/insurance checks; Assists other officers as needed; Completes necessary reports to maintain police records; Monitors for automobiles parked in restricted areas, and issues citations to violators when necessary; Maintains law and order in crowds and attend parades, funerals, or other public gatherings; Operates two-way radio to dispatch patrol cars to the scene of a disturbance or crime; May perform police duties in plain clothes as assigned; Performs related duties as required. 

Training and Experience:

Should have the ability to observe situations analytically and objectively and be able to record them clearly and completely; Should have good oral and written communication skills; Should be able to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations; Should be able to carry out oral and written instructions; Should have the ability to develop skills in the use and care of firearms and in the operation of motor vehicles; Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Should be at least 18 years of age; Must be willing to be fingerprinted and a search made of local, state, and national fingerprint files to disclose a criminal record; Must be willing to take a polygraph and have a psychological evaluation performed; Must be certified under the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council; Must demonstrate on and off-duty conduct that does not bring discredit to the officer, the department, or the City; Prior experience in police work preferred.
