Amy Johnson wins Starr Award

27 Jun, 2023
In front of a crowd of more than 1,000 people, Amy Johnson was pleasantly surprised to receive the prestigious Starr Award at the Georgia Municipal Association conference in Savannah on Monday.
The Starr Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions towards creating a unique and vibrant environment downtown. Recipients are visionaries, innovators, leaders, and champions for downtowns. Johnson, who has worked for the City of Moultrie for 25 years, has gone above and beyond for decades, planning events, helping merchants, and creating a welcoming atmosphere in Downtown Moultrie. She has played a part in the following projects, the Streetscape Project, The Pocket Park, the Mule Barn Park, South Main Parking Lot, The Sportsman’s Breezeway, the Covered Breezeway, and currently, the Theatre Block Renovation. In the last five years, more than 136 jobs were added in downtown Moultrie and private and public investments in revitalization efforts topped 8 million dollars!
The first recipient of the Starr Award was our very own Mayor, William McIntosh, in 2019. We are so incredibly proud to have Mayor McIntosh and Downtown Development & Public Relations Director Amy Johnson working to make Moultrie a better place.
