Community Development and Planning Director

Position:  Director                  

 Department: Community Development and Planning

 Salary: $55,000 plus (Salary based on qualification and experience)

  

General Nature of Work

  • Responsible for managing planning and zoning
  • Assists in the development and update of the comprehensive plan
  • Develop future land use
  • Develop and manage community development programs
  • Establishes work procedures and supervises enforcement personnel
  • Executes provisions for all building codes
  • Explains and interprets applicable ordinances to architects, engineers, building contractors, owners and other interested persons
  • Consults and advises several boards
  • Drafts ordinances and amendments to ordinances
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and exercises budget control for the department

 

Training and Experience

 Must be a graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in planning or related field.   Must have thorough knowledge of legal requirements, including federal, state and local requirements and guidelines associated with the preparation, submission and control of the Community Development Program. Should have five years of directly related experience including administrative and supervisory responsibilities.  Must have excellent communication skills and must possess a valid driver’s license.
