General Nature of Work:
Conducts preliminary and secondary investigations of crimes that have been committed. Thoroughly documents crime scenes and gather potential evidence. Compiles evidence by observing suspects, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and examining physical evidence. Identifies, apprehends, and prosecutes perpetrators appropriately. Participates in arrest or raids as well as patrol duties as needed. Conducts surveillance and testify in court proceedings. Must keep thorough records of investigations, maintains documents, drafts detailed investigative reports, and be prepared to present evidence to the prosecutor. On call, rotation is required. Travel may be required.
Training and Experience:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have in-depth knowledge in criminal law and rules. Must be honest and ethical with high levels of integrity and confidentiality. Must be at least 21 years of age and have completed the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) for Law Enforcement. Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must be a U.S. Citizen or resident status.
