Moultrie PD teams up with area law enforcement, seizes large quantities of drugs
3 Feb, 2021Over the past two weeks, Moultrie/Colquitt Drug Enforcement Team and Moultrie Police Department’s Special Operations Division conducted multiple drug investigations resulting in seizures of over 5,016 grams of cocaine and methamphetamines.
Tuesday, January 12th, 2021, agents conducted a search warrant at a home in the 4000 block US Hwy 319 North Norman Park, Ga., where approximately 800 grams of methamphetamine along with items used to distribute methamphetamine. This investigation was conducted after agents received complaints of suspected drug distribution at the residence. The methamphetamine had an estimated street value of $24,000.00 if distributed in user amounts.
The Department of Homeland Security intercepted a package of cocaine on Dear Run Road, and contacted local federal task force agents. Based on this information, task force agents and agents from the Moultrie/Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team conducted an operation, during which time agents seized approximately 2,700 grams of cocaine and methamphetamine that were stashed for future distribution throughout the South Ga area. The cocaine had an estimated street value of $50,000.00, and the methamphetamine value was estimated at $51,000.00 if distributed in user amounts. The identity of the three suspects taken into custody are being withheld pending further investigation.
Friday, January 29th, 2021, agents conducted a search warrant on Son Norman Road in Norman Park, Ga. An individual was found in possession of approximately 1,500 grams of methamphetamine and approximately $9,000.00 in US currency, believed to be derived from recent drug sales. This investigation stemmed from intelligence gathered from Lowndes County Special Operations Division and the Thomasville Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. These agencies contacted agents after making arrest in their area of operations for possession of methamphetamine by suspects who the individual had supplied. The estimated street value for the methamphetamine seized during this operation was $45,000.00 if distributed in user amounts. This arrest and seizure would not have been possible without the intelligence shared by Lowndes and Thomas counties.
Friday, January 29th, 2021, agents conducted a probation search at a home on the 3000 block of US Hwy 319 North. During this search, agents recovered approximately 16 grams of methamphetamine and approximately $2,000.00 in US currency believed to be derived from recent drug sales. The estimated street value of drugs seized was $400.00.
Federal Tasks Force Officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration(DEA), and the United States Marshall Service(USM) participated in these January operations. They will be requesting prosecution from the US attorney’s office on all suspects arrested.
