Riverside is unique for several reasons, including that it may be the smallest town in Georgia. Riverside, which was incorporated in 1907, is a city within a city; Moultrie completely surrounds it. It was once home to the Riverside Manufacturing Company, a textile manufacturing plant and one of Colquitt County’s largest employers at one time. It sat on 150 acres of land, equal to about 0.23 square miles. In 2016, Riverside surrendered its municipal charter because of how low the population had gotten.
